Build sustainability at the Habitat ReStore in Silver Spring, as part of Thursday Network’s 2024 Join Week community service project.

Habitat ReStores are a unique blend of a home improvement store,  home goods store, and  resale store. Proceeds from ReStore sales contribute to Habitat for Humanity’s mission of ensuring everyone has a decent place to live.

What to Expect:

ReStore volunteers play a crucial role in maintaining the store's operations. Tasks include receiving and preparing new merchandise for sale, testing items for functionality, organizing merchandise on the floor, arranging displays, ensuring overall store orderliness and cleanliness, and providing assistance to customers. Volunteers should be prepared for hands-on work.

Frequently  Asked Questions:

Do I have to lift heavy objects?

While lifting heavy items is not mandatory, volunteers willing and able to do so are encouraged. Those opting to lift should bring gloves.

What should I wear?

Closed-toe boots or shoes are mandatory for all volunteers. Open-toe shoes, sandals, and high heels are not allowed. Please wear sturdy, long pants that cover your ankles, such as jeans.

How do I request a special accommodation?

Email Melika Matthews at csevents@thursdaynetwork.org with your request.

Is there an option to carpool?

Carpooling may be arranged. During registration, indicate whether you can drive others or if you need a ride.
