26th Annual MLK Day of Service: Blanket & Toiletry Drive

  • 01/19/2026
  • 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM
  • Maya Angelou Public Charter School: 5600 East Capitol Street Northeast Washington, DC 20019

The 26th Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service Blanket & Toiletry Drive is Thursday Network’s annual event to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

During the month of January, communities within DC, Prince George’s County, and Montgomery County will be asked to donate items and funds to create care packages for people in need.

On January 19th, we will host an event in collaboration with Maya Angelou Public Charter School to assemble and deliver care packages. Volunteers will assist in creating packages that consist of blankets, deodorants, feminine hygiene products (e.g., tampons and pads), floss, shampoo, conditioner, toothbrushes, toothpastes, soaps, and words of encouragement. This year’s goal is to deliver 2,000 packages to people in need throughout the Greater Washington Area. In addition to care packages, we will host various community service project stations that are family-friendly and will serve more than 2,400 recipients.
