2026 THURSDAY NETWORK Executive Leadership Council ELECTIONS

The elections of our next leaders for Thursday Network will occur on August 27th, 2026 at 7:00 PM EDT. Voting is strictly reserved for Thursday Network members in good standing with the organization, according Article II of our Bylaws.

The following positions are up for election:

Position responsibilities are outlined in Article V and Article VI) of our Bylaws and Elections Guidelines. Eligibility requirements for members in good standing are outlined in Article II of our Bylaws.



Election timeline

July 16: Election nominations begin

August 10: Candidate campaigning begins

July 19: Last New-Member Orientation for nominees to be eligible for election

August 17: Members in good standing can request an absentee ballot; Second mandatory candidates meeting and information session with the GWUL CEO

July 21: Last Community Service Opportunity for nominees to be eligible for election (Capital Area Food Bank)

August 20: Meet-and-Greet Candidate Mixer Event
July 23: In-person nominations at July general body meeting; Deadline to submit electronic nominations (due by 11:59 PM ET)August 26: Last day to request electronic absentee ballot due by 11:59 PM ET); Last day for membership dues to be paid/renewed for voting eligibility
July 26: Deadline to accept or decline a nomination via Nomination Response Form; Deadline for nominees to pay dues and be deemed eligible for electionAugust 27: Absentee ballot voting period from 6:00 AM - 6:00 PM ET; August General Body Meeting (Election)
July 30: Elections Committee notifies nominees of their eligibilitySeptember 1-30: Organizational recess
August 3: First mandatory candidates Meeting; Candidate Declaration Application distributed to eligible candidates September 30: Commencement of leadership transitions
August 7: Deadline for Candidate Declaration Application submission (due by 6:00 PM ET); Deadline to confirm general body meeting attendance

October 1: The 2026-27 term begins

August 9: Candidate slate finalized

    Absentee Ballots

    Members who are unable to attend the election in-person on Thursday, August 27th, may cast their votes using an electronic absentee ballot. Members can request an absentee ballot starting on August 17th. The last day to request an electronic absentee ballot is Wednesday, August 26th. Absentee Voting will take place on Thursday, August 27th from 6:00 AM - 6:00 PM EDT.

    Founded in 1992, Thursday Network is comprised of over 200 young professionals committed to serving the Washington Metropolitan area through community programs and partnership that address the Empowerment Goals of the National Urban League. The mission of TN is to provide a forum for young adults, ages 21 – 40, to focus their energies on community service, professional development, and political involvement.
