Dwight T. McTizic

Candidate for Treasurer

Member since since 2023

Why are you running for this position?

I have spent the last term serving as the Treasurer and I was able to learn a tremendous amount of what the organization needs. I am seeking re-election because my experience will enable me to be more effective for the next term.

What qualifications do you possess that make you uniquely qualified for this position?

I serve as a financial advisor for non-profits in my day job, I have a strong understanding of the unique challenges non-profits face. Additionally, I have spent the past two years serving on the finance committee of a non-profit supporting the development of budgets and audit processing.

What initiatives would you implement if selected for this position?

I would like to drive the chairs to get more creative on how events can be financed, what spaces can we get donated, can we negotiate a kickback with the venue. The goal is to have every program cost no money to TN if not be profitable. I would also like to provide more transparency to chairs on their individual budgets on a regular basis.

If selected for this position, describe how you would use your role to impact on the Thursday Network, the Greater Washington Urban League, and the National Urban League Young Professionals?

The treasurer can support the cause of TN through good financial management but I intend to take that a step further by serving as a resource for our membership regarding financial education. I would like to expand the use cases of the TNFinance Linktree and connect our membership to programming centered around financial empowerment in the DMV.

How much time can you commit to this position per month?
