Amber Cox

Candidate for Secretary

Member since 2023

Why are you running for this position?

I am running for secretary because I would like to use my diverse skill set and eclectic background to effectively manage information on behalf of Thursday Network (TN) and ensure that TN's messaging reaches all members as well as the community.

What qualifications do you possess that make you uniquely qualified for this position?

My current professional role of serving as in-house counsel and amassing over ten years of experience in patent law, has enabled me to be detail-oriented, resourceful, a good listener, and able to understand the needs of the businesses I support. This experience, along with my passion for helping others, makes me confident in my ability to support Thursday Network and the Executive Leadership Council as secretary.

What initiatives would you implement if selected for this position?

If elected as secretary, I would like to reinstitute the distribution of a weekly digest that provides TN members with information and registration links for all upcoming events and/or meetings as well as the link for submitting monthly hours in a single email as an alternative to separate notifications.

If selected for this position, describe how you would use your role to impact on the Thursday Network, the Greater Washington Urban League, and the National Urban League Young Professionals?

Empowerment is the heart of Thursday Network, the Greater Washington Urban League, and the National Urban League Young Professionals' mission and core values. The National Urban League has been able to have a lasting impact on the lives of people of color for over a century due to effective messaging and the provision of resources and education. If elected as secretary, I recognize that my primary responsibilities will be to document and disseminate information on behalf of Thursday Network. Therefore, I plan to use my role to empower Thursday Network members with information to carry out the mission of serving and empowering the community.

How much time can you commit to this position per month?
