Member since since 2024 Why are you running for this position? I'm running for Community Service Events Chair because giving back has always been an important part of my life. I first discovered my passion for service as a child, volunteering in a special needs classroom. Since then, I’ve taken part in a variety of service projects, including food banks, senior centers, women’s shelters, and pediatric cancer wards. Through these experiences, I’ve learned how to create events that are not only meaningful, but also welcoming and inclusive. As chair, I want to bring more people into service, build new partnerships, and make sure our efforts truly reflect the needs of our community. What qualifications do you possess that make you uniquely qualified for this position? I believe I’m uniquely qualified for the Community Service Events Chair role because of my strong emotional intelligence, leadership style, and global perspective. I’ve lived on every coast of the U.S. and traveled extensively, which has helped me build empathy and connect with people from all walks of life. I’m also a great listener and a collaborative teammate — I understand that the best leaders often lead from behind. As Chair, I would empower committee members to take initiative and make decisions, while offering support and guidance to help them succeed. My goal is to foster a team environment where everyone feels valued and motivated to make an impact. What initiatives would you implement if selected for this position? If selected for this position, I would focus on creating volunteer initiatives that address pressing needs in our community, such as food insecurity, youth mentorship, and support for underserved populations. I would work to build partnerships with local nonprofits to develop ongoing service projects that create lasting impact. Additionally, I would encourage committee members to take leadership roles in organizing events, fostering collaboration and personal growth. My goal is to ensure our efforts not only serve the community but also empower our volunteers to become engaged leaders. If selected for this position, describe how you would use your role to impact on the Thursday Network, the Greater Washington Urban League, and the National Urban League Young Professionals? If selected as Community Service Events Chair, I would use this role to advance the missions of Thursday Network, the Greater Washington Urban League, and the National Urban League Young Professionals by designing and leading service initiatives that uplift and empower marginalized communities in the D.C. area.
